“The story behind Tul by Ován”

I was born in Madrid, the odd one out in a family that's almost entirely from Andalucía, and every summer we'd go south, which always felt like the real part of the year to me. We ended up moving there for good when I was a teenager. Before that, though, there was the conservatory, where I trained in ballet for years in Madrid, all discipline and precision. Later, in Málaga, I went in a completely different direction and studied culinary arts instead. Ballet and cooking don't have much in common on paper, but they both asked the same thing of me: make something with your hands, and really mean it.

I moved to London six years ago, and I remember those late nights after work. I'd come home to a flat that never quite felt like mine, and I'd cook myself something good and plate it up nicely, just for me and my flatmate. It was such a small thing, but it mattered more than it probably should have.
I didn't know it at the time, but that's where Tul by Ován really began. Not with a business plan, just with a plate I liked, and the sense that even an ordinary Tuesday deserved a bit more care than I was giving it.

I'm still inspired by the smallest things, honestly, a contrast that shouldn't work but somehow does, a conversation that stays with me for no clear reason, the way someone moves through a room. I've stopped questioning it, I just trust it when it comes.
